Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda's Festival
One of the famous principal shrines in Myanmar, this Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda Festival held at majestic Inlay Lake a forever popular festival where 5 Buddha images are placed on a lavish royal barge and sailed around the lake. The barge stops at various villages for local villagers to pay homage. Inlay’s famed leg-rowers are in full regalia and pageantry aboard the stately pagoda.
You can see the procession of the Inle leg-rowing boats in full pageantry and ceremonial splendor. Hundreds of other vessels travel in the entourage in a general festive atmosphere.
The most interesting event of the festival is Shan traditional boat races participated by leg-rowers dressed in their national costumes.
